Happy New Year! We hope your 2026 is off to a great start. Zurich is covered in snow, and the temperatures are still anything but beach-friendly. Still, we’re shaking off the winter sleep and already working toward our big goal: more sand, more nets, more beach volleyball.
Meetings with the City of Zurich
At the end of last year, we were able to meet with the responsible teams at the Sports Office and Grün Stadt Zürich. We’re excited to share that we now have direct contacts in both institutions for the next steps — and that our concerns have been met with genuine interest. In the coming weeks and months, we’ll focus on short-term improvements to upgrade existing courts ahead of the upcoming season.
Court dossiers and information material
We’re currently preparing detailed dossiers for each beach court and have also compiled general information material about beach facilities. These documents are being created in coordination with the city and will help speed up decisions and measures.
Growing support
Alongside more than 300 individual supporters (you’re amazing — thank you!), we’ve also gained support from ZuZu, Beachhalle Zürich Nord, and Beachvolleyball Zürich, and are discussing further support with the regional Swiss Volley chapter. We were especially happy to increase our outreach within the entire canton and to receive support from Beachvolleyball Winterthur.
More beach volleyball across Switzerland!
Things are moving in Lucerne as well. Recently, Tele1 reported on how the beach volleyball community in the Mittelland region is campaigning for a beach hall in Lucerne — already backed by 440 signatures. A strong sign that the demand is growing nationwide.
