We need your signature to stand up for the beach volleyball community. The more of us there are, the more likely we are to be heard. Most people who play beach volleyball are not organised in clubs. This means we are underrepresented in numbers and beach volleyball is not promoted the way we deserve. That is exactly what we want to change with this petition.

With this petition, we want to reach everyone who cares about a more active city with outdoor sports facilities — not just active beach volleyball players, but also friends, family, supporters, and more.

Detailed Information

Create a beach centre with 8–12 courts: In Zurich there are many individual courts, spread far apart from each other. This makes it difficult to distribute users and hinders community building. That is why we want a central facility with enough courts to sustainably promote the sport.
Renovate courts and improve their facilities: The existing courts need to be renovated. Replacement of the sand and net systems is urgently needed.
Expand existing beach volleyball courts with additional courts: At existing facilities, the infrastructure is already in place. It is also easier to distribute users across courts that are directly adjacent to each other. Therefore, we want to examine where existing courts can be expanded.
Make facilities with limited usability accessible: Many courts are only partially usable — for example because steel cable nets are used or because the courts are directly surrounded by concrete. We want to examine which courts could be significantly improved with minor measures.
Improve booking options: The current booking options are not uniform, partly non-functional, and do not provide an overview of the availability of all courts at once. We want to improve this to make it easier to see which courts are available and to better distribute users. We also want to lower the cost of booking to make beach volleyball more affordable.
Create an interim solution during renovation of Badis Allenmoos and Kloten: The Badis Allenmoos and Kloten are facing renovation. This will reduce or completely eliminate important training opportunities. We want to find temporary options to ease this bottleneck.
Temporary winter use of an outdoor facility as a central supplement to indoor beach halls: The indoor beach hall already provides a winter option. However, it is already generously fully booked and, due to its location, too difficult to reach for many players. We want to create an additional offering through the temporary winter use of an outdoor facility that is easier to reach and makes the facility usable in winter too.
